Background
Nissan LEAF is the world's first affordable, zero-emission car. With a lithium-ion battery-powered chassis, Nissan LEAF is a medium-size hatchback that
comfortably seats five adults and has a range of more than 160km per charge.
When Steve Jobs introduced the iPhone 4, he also introduced the iAds, the new advertising platform for the iPhone. Nissan Leaf was
the first iAd
, which earned Nissan a lot of media attention.
Execution
With the increased interest for the Nissan Leaf that followed the iAd presentation, it was a good idea to present the earned media value that the iAd brought to Nissan.
I was charged with designing a data visualization interface that showed the increase in tweets about the Nissan Leaf over a period of time, from before to after
the revealing of the iAd.
This Twitter visualization features the Nissan Leaf driving down a road (timeline), with "spikes" appearing by the side of the road, which reflect the number of tweets as well
shows random tweets. The US map also populates with dots, marking where people were tweeting. Also shown was an indicator of earned media value, as well as a calendar.
The visualization was built as an interactive flash piece, for internal Nissan use.
